Trust your gut!

August 18, 2021February 4, 2021 by Sun Mother
Trust your gut in parenting

Trusting your gut instinct is one of the hardest but most powerful lessons in parenting. In all of life actually. During my first pregnancy I really followed my intuition, I questioned everything that gave me that uneasy pang in my tummy. Then my baby came along and slowly but surely this trust came undone. It’s … Read more

Chicken Bone Broth Recipe 🧡 The cool thing abo Chicken Bone Broth Recipe 🧡

The cool thing about making chicken broth is that you can pretty much throw in whatever you have on hand, some people even make it just with chicken + water, so if you don’t have something listed in the ingredients, dont worry!

I love this relaxed style of cooking.

It’s great to get into the habit of putting veggie scraps in a container in the freezer, then you have them on hand when you are ready to cook a batch of broth. I also keep frozen drumsticks and wings as back up broth ingredients. Having everything ready to go makes it quick if a client is unwell, births earlier than expected, or so our family get sick.

2-3 chicken carcases, or the equivalent amount of drumsticks/wings
1-2 onions, roughly chopped
2 carrots, roughly chopped
3 celery sticks, roughly chopped
4-6 garlic cloves
thumb sized piece of ginger, sliced
2 bay leaves
1 tsp whole peppercorns
1 tsp turmeric powder or fresh slices (optional)
1 tbsp apple cider vinegar

Place all the ingredients in a large stockpot and cover with water.
Bring to a boil, then reduce the heat, partially cover, and simmer for anywhere between 2-12 hours.

Remove the large ingredients with a large slotted spoon, then strain it.

Cool on the bench top then store in the fridge for 4 days or freeze.

Me and this cutie are getting ready for a prenatal Me and this cutie are getting ready for a prenatal catch up today 💜

I have two families close to birth time 😄 and a few catch ups planned for possible new families which I’m excited about!

With school holidays now in the mix of my life I don’t have many spots left this year.

October/November is free at this stage so if you’re freshly preggy and thinking you might like to chat, let’s do it sooner rather than later. I hate having to turn people away due to such limited spots 😕

Doula care has looked a little different for me th Doula care has looked a little different for me the past few months. A few different and flexible arrangements to suit the needs of my postpartum families so I could support them while not being physically in their homes.

Although I’ve missed my in home caring it’s kind of worked out well while we weaned and settled into school life.

I have two new families getting close to full bloom and I can’t wait to be with them in those tender early weeks and months. I’ve missed it so much and realise how much this work serves me as much as it does the people I work with.

I have some spots available from late June onwards so get in touch via DM if you want to chat more about what I offer 💜

Big love you beautiful things!

Ah what a week it’s been! I knew there’d be a Ah what a week it’s been! I knew there’d be a lot of big feelings, especially coming off the back of weaning my youngest, it’s been a lot!

And of course my period is due any day so it’s been a hurricane of feels.

My kiddo has always had a pretty difficult time of transitions, I think I’m a bit the same too. Today was especially hard, we had a tough morning then drop off was really difficult.

I’m so thankful that when Jim finally went into his class I turned and saw a few Mum’s I knew from childcare had waited for me. With tears streaming down my face and Jack clung onto me they gave me the hugs and kind words I needed.

I’m also thankful for his beautiful teacher who called me not long after to tell me he settled in super quick and that she’s pay extra attention him next week for drop offs.

Phew. Week one down.

Big love to all the parents and caregivers who are navigating this new journey and other with kids returning to school after holidays and a disrupted few years.
